Takashi Nemoto is a Japanese alternative comic artist. He was born in 1958 in Tokyo, Japan, and is a proud Cancer.
In 1981, he debut as a comic artist, in “Garo.” “Garo” was the most famous underground comics magazine in Japan at the time, and it produced a large number of many talented comic artists. Yoshiharu Tsuge and Suehiro Maruo were some of the artists that Takashi Nemoto shared the pages with.
Even though he had his first manga publication over twenty years ago, Nemoto’s popularity still has not waned. He has consistently remained on the wild side of the comic book industry, and frequently focuses the themes of his manga on controversial issues that are contrary to the ethics and views of the Japanese people.
Nemoto’s favorite actor is Shintaro Katsu, who is famous for his role as “Zato-Ichi.” Shintaro Katsu is Nemoto’s idol.
Nemoto also loves The Who, and Shin Joong Hyun. Shin Joong Hyun is a famous South Korean rock star who was dubbed the, “Godfather of Korean Rock.” Althoiugh Mr. Shin is over 60 years old, when Mr. Shin plays the guitar it’s almost as if Jimi Hendrix’ sould possessed him. The lyrics of the song, “Let it Bleed,” by The Rolling Stones are his favorite. Also, he recommends checking out “Narayamabushi-kou”, or the Ballad of Narayama, by Shinichirou Fukazawa, and “The Mysterious Stranger,” by Mark Twain.
Nemoto wants it to be made clear that he believes he is a pessimistic optimist.
